The Sullivan powerlifters had a lot of success at the Taylorville meet on Saturday. The athletes were placed into Varsity and JV divisions based on their year in school. They were also placed into weight classes within those divisions to compete for individual awards. Each lifter competed in the bench press, back squat, and power clean, and their total weight lifted was calculated. Our first place individual winners in their weight classes and their total weights lifted were Brandon Fleshner (825 pounds), Evan Barker (950 pounds), Kolton Rose (675 pounds), and Logan Pedigo (505 pounds). Our second place finishers were Parker Whitaker (710 pounds) and Preston Wagner (635 pounds). Third place winners were Zach Devore (740 pounds) and William Tate (790 pounds). Dakota Weybright also competed very well and earned personal bests in all three of his lifts, with a total weight of 590 pounds.Team scores were determined by adding the total weight lifted by the top seven lifters from each team. The Sullivan athletes earned 2nd place behind Taylorville and lifted more weight than teams from Bethalto Civic Memorial, Peoria Heights, North Mac, Clinton, and PORTA. The hard work and commitment in the weightroom continues to pay off for our athletes.
